Travel insurance provider's survey reveals top safe countries for trips

The seventh annual report from Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, a renowned travel insurance provider, lists the safest countries for travel in 2025.

1. Iceland

Though Iceland is known for its volcanoes and ice caves, its low crime rate and small, peaceful population give the Nordic country the top spot in the latest survey. Interestingly, it also has very few traffic concerns and accidents.

2. Australia

Yes, Australia has everything from poisonous jellyfish to dangerous crocodiles. But if you can be mindful of its wildlife, it's the second safest country in the world due to its low crime rate and remote location.

3. Canada

Canada, last year's top tourist destination, is in third place this year. Like Australia, tourists should be careful about its wildlife and otherwise, it's a low-crime destination.

Ireland

Are you confident driving on the left side of narrow roads? If so, you have nothing to fear in this beautiful country. Its friendly locals, efficient emergency services, and rare instances of crime are some of the reasons that make it safe.

5. Switzerland

Well-maintained infrastructure, orderly cities, a high standard of living, and a healthcare system—numerous reasons make Switzerland a safe country. However, climate change, avalanches, and landslides pose a growing risk, which tourists should be alert about.
