Dev Shah wins spell bee contest with 'psammophile'

Dev Shah (14) won the prestigious 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee. He won the 95th national bee and a prize money of USD 50,000.

The eighth-grader from Florida won the competition by spelling the word "psammophile", a plant or an animal that thrives in sandy areas

The National Spelling Bee was launched in 1925. Harini Logan, an Indian American 14-year-old from Texas, won the contest in 2022.
