The rake for Kerala's 20-coach Vande Bharat has reached Kochuveli, aka Thiruvananthapuram North, today after certification from the mechanical engineering department of the Chennai Central Basin Bridge. The new orange-colour train (20634/20633) has a capacity of 1440. It has 18 chair car coaches and two executive class coaches, as compared to the 1,128 seats of the 16-coach train. The Thiruvananthapuram - Kasaragod Vand Bharat Express is one of the top-occupied trains in the country, with over 200% occupancy. The train operates six days a week except Thursdays. The date on which the new train will be launched on the route has not been decided yet. 

The train, which passes through 11 districts of Kerala, departs Thiruvananthapuram at 5.15 am and reaches Kasaragod at 1.20 pm. In the return direction, it leaves Kasaragod at 2.30 pm and reaches Thiruvananthapuram at 10.35 pm. Its fare is Rs 1,520 for the Chair car and Rs 2,815 for the executive class. This includes the catering charges; passengers can opt out of catering services if interested. The train was inaugurated in early 2023 by PM Narendra Modi.
