Trains are India's most common mode of travel, especially among laymen. Unlike aeroplanes, where you can take only limited baggage, trains do not have any restrictions regarding the weight of the luggage. Besides, many things are banned inside aeroplanes due to safety concerns. But not many know that some items are restricted in trains, too. The railway issues such restrictions, especially during the festival season, when passengers soar uncontrollably. Many people are unaware that carrying certain things on a train is restricted.
Do not take these in train
Diwali falls on a Thursday this year, so if you take a leave of absence on Friday, you could enjoy a long weekend. This is the perfect time to plan a trip with your family or friends. So, railway stations and bus stands may be more crowded than usual, as more people travel during this time. Meanwhile, the Indian Railway has issued strong warnings about the things restricted to be carried in trains. Firecrackers are banned inside the train to avoid any mishaps. Crackers and other inflammable items like gas stoves, gas cylinders, flammable chemical substances, acids, and foul-smelling things can’t be carried in trains.
There are statutory restrictions to carry things that could potentially threaten the safety of the train or cause discomfort to passengers. If caught with these banned substances, you may be slapped with Rs 1000 as a fine or up to three years of imprisonment per section 164 of the Indian Railway Act.
