Traffic restrictions will occur from 7 am to 4 pm on September 6 in Tripunithura town when the Athachamayam procession, which marks the beginning of Kerala's Onam festival, occurs. Here's how the traffic will be controlled for the day:
1) Heavy/goods vehicles from the Kottayam side should move to Ernakulam via Mulanthuruthy, Chottanikkara, Thiruvankulam, and Seaport—Airport Road. The heavy/goods vehicles from Vaikom should turn right at Nadakkavu Junction before proceeding to Ernakulam via Mulanthuruthy, Thiruvankulam, and Seaport—Airport Road.
2) Services buses and light vehicles going from Kottayam, Vaikom and Mulanthuruthy to Ernakulam should reach Kannankulangara Junction before taking the mini bypass.
3) Vehicles from Kottayam and Vaikom sides to Kakkanad, Ambalamedu and Thiruvankulam should turn right at Nadakkavu Junction and take the Mulanthuruthy – Chottanikkara road.
4) Service buses and light vehicles from Ernakulam and Vytila to Vaikom, Mulanthuruthy and Kottayam should reach Petta Junction and turn right to Mini Bypass – Kannankulangara.
5) All vehicles from Vytila and Kundannur going to Chittanikkara and Muvattupuzha should reach Petta Junction and take the Irumpanam route.
6) Vehicles coming from Vennala and Eroor to Kottayam, Ambalamedu, and Muvattupuzha should turn east at Eroor Labour Junction and reach Tracko—Cable Junction before travelling to Irumpanam Junction via Seaport—Airport Road.
7) Light vehicles and service buses from Muvattupuzha, Thiruvankulam, and Ambalamedu going to Ernakulam and Alappuzha should reach Karingachira—Irumpanam Junction before proceeding to SN Junction—Petta Junction, while heavy vehicles should take the Kakkanad, Palarivattam route.
8) Tipper lorries, tankers and container trucks are banned from entering Tripunithura town.
9) Entry is restricted from Puthiyakavu to Tripunithura Market Road Junction via Market Road.
10) Parking is prohibited in the procession route, including the Boys School ground, Thripunithura Private Bus Stand, Statue, Kizhakkekota, SN Junction and Vadakkekota.
11) Service buses arriving from the Puthiyakavu side should take the Kannankulangara – Hospital Junction – Mini Bypass without entering the bus stand.
12) Visitors from Aluva, Ernakulam and Vytila sides are advised to utilise the Metro service.
13) Vehicles coming from the Nadakkavu side should park at the Puthiyakavu temple ground, and those coming from Maradu and Petta should use the parking spaces arranged in SN Vidyapeedam and Venketashwara at the mini bypass.
14) Parking is banned on both sides of the road from Kannankulangara to the mini bypass – Petta.
15) Vehicles from Kakknad, Muvattupuzha, and Ambalamedu could park on the left side of Irumpanam Puthiya Road Junction—Chitrapuzha road without disrupting traffic.
