One of the two Vande Bharat Express trains that run between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod has been extended to Mangaluru.
The development was communicated by BJP's Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a social media post on Wednesday.

Kateel thanked Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a post on X (also called Twitter) for extending the Vande Bharat service.
The service that has been extended is the one that runs via Alappuzha. The first Vande Bharat train, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2023, runs via Kottayam.

According to Kateel, the extended service will leave Mangalore at 6.15 am and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 3.05 pm. It will depart Thiruvananthapuram at 4.05 pm and reach Mangaluru at 12.40 pm. Kateel said the extended service will be operational six days a week, except on Wednesdays.
