Chennai: Seventeen trains including the Vande Bharat train to and from Tirunelveli are cancelled or rescheduled due to heavy rains in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari and Tuticorin of Tamil Nadu. Floodwater has entered yards and submerged tracks in many places while the red alert is in place in all four districts.
Tuticorin-bound flights have also been diverted or cancelled. A cyclonic circulation lies over the Comorin area, said the weather department. The cancelled trains also include those that began their journey on Sunday but had to be terminated due to flooding on tracks.
