The sight of two milky and frothy waterfalls flowing at a distance can definitely blow your mind. As you walk towards the twin cascades, the sound of water falling without any shackles would reverberate in your ears. The pathway to the Blapila waterfalls starts after turning right from the Cherthatta market, which is beyond the Chengara view point, on the Konni Attachakkal-Malayattoor route.
The narrow sloping path to the plantation itself is a treat for the eyes. The path takes three routes from the valley that is dipped in nature’s green and all the routes will take you to the waterfalls. As driving through these mud paths is an uphill task, it is better to walk to the waterfalls. Though four-wheel drive vehicles and motorbikes can take you to the waterfalls, the stroll through the mud track in the shades of the rubber trees is extraordinary. It is noteworthy that there are many paths through the plantation that lead to the nature’s twin wonders. But make sure to tread the right track as all routes look alike.
As the walk through the plantation gets longer, the sound of falling waters will get louder and louder. The soothing sound will give an impression that the waterfalls are quite near but you won’t be able to see the cascades. Like a hidden treasure, the mesmerizing waterfalls are neatly cocooned by the trees. The pathway leading to the waterfalls are very narrow and one should be careful while treading through the track.
The view one sees while reaching the water pool is a stunner. The water could be seen flowing calmly caressing the rocks. You have to walk through the shallow pond, which is riddled with nature carved smooth pebbles, for a while to reach this slice of paradise.
The milky waterfalls that flow relentlessly will give a notion that someone has opened a milk reservoir from up above. The view of white waters flowing for about 35m at a stretch and the tall trees making a perfect canopy for the waterfalls is ethereal. Facilities are available for the travellers to take a dip in the cold waters. Though the waterfalls are not fraught with danger, it is better to keep a safe distance from the water body during monsoon when the water level would be pretty high.
The second waterfall is a stone’s throw away from the first one and the sight of water flowing silently amidst the rubber trees is simply awesome. The short distance between the two waterfalls is riddled with spectacular vistas of the nature that give a soothing effect to the visitors. A visit to the Blapila waterfalls will provide memories that can be cherished for a lifetime. It may be noted that it is better to visit the Blapila waterfalls before peak summer sets in.
