The Vizhinjam lighhouse, which offers an enchanting bird eye view of Thiruvananthapuram's picturesque coast, has been reopened for the visitors after a long break of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Long queues of visitors could be seen in front of the tall structure ever since it was opened for the public on May 1.

Currently, visitors are allowed entry to the lighthouse from 10 am to 12.45 pm and from 2-5.45 pm on all days, except Mondays. After the reopening on Sunday, a huge rush was experienced at the landmark during the next couple days in view of the Eid festival.

The authorities had earlier barred entry for tourists in the Vizhinjam lighthouse from March 11, 2020 after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
