Kottayam: Train services will be restricted on the Kottayam route from May 6 to 28 as part of the completion of the doubling of the Ettumanoor-Chingavanam stretch of the track.
According to the Railways, services would be curtailed during 3-5 am from May 6 to 22. From May 23 to 28, no train will run for 10 hours every day in the morning along the Kottayam route. Several trains would be either cancelled or diverted through the Alappuzha route during these days. The Railways would release the complete list of cancellations and diversions soon.
The Railway Safety Commission (Commission of Railway Safety – CRS) will inspect the new track on May 23. After clearance from the CRS, trains would start services along the new track from May 28.
With the doubling of the 16.5-km Ettumanoor-Chingavanam track, the entire 634-km stretch from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangaluru would become electrified double track.
