Mulankunnathukavu: The Poomala dam is all set to welcome tourists who intend to enjoy the enchanting beauty of the monsoon. Tourists throng the small village of Poomala to see nature in all its splendor - the pristine waters and the lush greenery.

The streams which flow down from the nearby hills during the monsoon is collected in the dam. The visitors can enjoy boating in the dam and spend some quality time in the beautiful park on its bank. The storage capacity of the dam is 29 ft, and currently it has water up to 28.3 ft. The officials informed that the shutters would be opened when the water level reaches 28.5 ft.

However the locals say the state and the central governments are indifferent to the idea of turning the dam and nearby places into a major tourist destination in spite of the footfalls.
