Muscat: In a major setback to the Indian job aspirants, the Oman Ministry of Manpower has decided to extend its temporary visa ban on hiring expatriates in specific jobs. This decision takes effect at the end of a six-month ban, which began on January this year. The ministry informed that the latest ban shall continue for a period of six months from July 30, 2018.
Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, the minister for manpower, had stated in January that Sultanate would not allow expat recruits in 87 industries which includes IT, accounting, marketing, sales, administration, HR, insurance, information media, medical, engineering and technical fields.
Meanwhile the 2013 visa ban on various posts still continue.The government kept on extending the validity of this ban every six months.
