How about visiting a place where premium red wine is available for free without a break? Sounds like heaven, doesn’t it? Such a place exists for real and it has a wine fountain that pours free red wine around the clock. The beautiful city that's home to the famous fountain 'Fontana del Vino' is Italy's Abruzzo, a township on the eastern shoreline of the Adriatic Sea. The world's first wine fountain was in Ronda, Spain, but Abruzzo also won travellers' hearts soon after it was launched in 2016, with its natural beauty. Abruzzo's fountain was inspired by another similar project in Spain's Navarra, established by Dora Sarchese Winery. The key difference between Italy’s wine fountain and similar projects throughout Europe is that the fountain in Italy pours wine day in and day out. Not only is this flow continuous, but drinking the red wine is also free.

Free wine that follows the harvest
The harvest season in the Northern Hemisphere marks a special occasion for wine enthusiasts. Dora Sarchese winery, which established the wine fountain, had declared that they would unveil it following their event on October 9th. The Dora Sarchese wine fountain is located on a route named after St. Thomas, the “'ammino di San Tommaso, at Caldari di Ortona' in Abruzzo. The pathway connects Rome to Ortona, which is famous for its cathedral and the 1452-built castle named Aragonese.
