The night-time charm of Kozhikode City is set to be enhanced with the launch of a new facade lighting project aimed at promoting nightlife tourism and beautifying the city. The Kerala State Tourism Department initiative focuses on illuminating the city's iconic landmarks and heritage symbols. The lighting project kicked off on Thursday night with a special ceremony where PA Mohammed Riyas, Minister of Tourism, switched on the lights on the facades of the CSI Cathedral and the Pattalam Mosque. The illumination of the Kuttichira Mishkal Mosque, whose installation has already been completed, will occur on Friday, December 20, at 7:30 PM.  

First phase of the project
The project's first phase will also light up notable locations such as the Light House at Kozhikode Beach, the Corporation Town Hall, and the old corporation building. A total of Rs. 4.46 crores has been allocated for this phase. The Sreekandeswara Temple and the Thali Temple, both significant religious symbols of the city, will be illuminated as part of the next phase. The government has earmarked Rs. 91 lakhs for the illumination of the Thali Temple.

The beautification of the Thali Temple has already been completed. Minister Riyas also announced that the Mananchira Square will be illuminated before the New Year and Christmas celebrations, adding to the festive atmosphere. This facade lighting initiative is expected to enhance the visual appeal of Kozhikode’s landmarks and boost tourism in the region during the evening hours.
