Idukki dam to be opened for visitors; no entry on Wednesdays

Cheruthoni: The Idukki and Cheruthoni dams will be opened for visitors to ring during the Onam holiday season. Visitors can enter the dams under strict guidelines for up to three months. Minister Roshy Augustine said permission was sought by submitting a written appeal to Minister K Krishnankutty. The visitors will be allowed to enter without affecting the maintenance works held at both dams. Entry will not be allowed on Wednesdays. Meanwhile, the visitors will be taken inside in buggy cars.

Schedule and entry fee
1) Entry is from 9.30 am to 5 pm
2) The entry pass costs Rs 100 for children and Rs 150 for children (including charges for the buy car)
3) Only up to 820 visitors would be allowed to enter in a day
Route
You could reach the dam via the Cheruthoniā€”Vellappara route. When returning, visitors need to take the same road.
