Seethathod: The timber houses that were envisaged as part of the developmental projects proposed by the Kerala Forest Development Corporation in Gavi are now beckoning tourists.
The tourists who reach Gavi as part of the KFDC package can stay in these rustic timber houses. Interestingly, the three timber cottages are built near the Gavi dam. The renovation works of these cottages had been progressing for the last few months. Besides, two tents too are arranged close to the timber cottages.
A team led by KFDC Chairperson Lathika Subash and managing director George P Mathachan had recently visited the sites to asses the progress of the works. Visitors can book the cottages online. Besides, the renovation works of other accommodation facilities in Gavi too are progressing.
Meanwhile, division manager KV Sajeer said that boating and trekking too have been arranged at Gavi for the tourists. To book the cottages call – 9947492399, 8289821305
Old British bungalow and homestay
Last year, a new homestay was opened at Gavi mainly targeting family tourists. The homestay, which has earned the ‘Diamond category’ tag from the state Tourism Department, reportedly has all modern facilities.
It's an old bungalow built by the British in the private estate of ‘Down Town’ which has been refurbished. Three executive rooms are among the options for stay at the homestay, which can accommodate a total 20 guests.
