KSRTC has arranged a cool ride from Kothamangalam to Munnar, widely known as the Kashmir of Kerala.
You can enjoy a beautiful journey through the forest, soaking in the cool air and the charming scenery around. You can witness nature at its glorious best.
The trip is part of KSRTC's initiative to prepare budget trips. Through this innovative tourism package, KSTRC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) is hoping to salvage the tourism sector which is under financial crisis owing to the pandemic. The venture has become a huge hit with good response coming in from travellers.
If you are lucky, you can spot wild elephants and other animals on the way. In fact, the highlight of the trip is that the bus will wander through tea estates, along streams, rivulets and waterfalls instead of the usual route.
The bus goes to Munnar via Kuttampuzha, Mamalakandam, Pazhampillichal, Kurangatti and Mankulam. The biggest highlight of the trip is that it charges just Rs 550 per person and it includes lunch and evening tea.
The train will leave Kothamangalam at 8 am and reach Munnar at 6 pm. Initially, the trip was planned for Sundays only. But now with the increase in the number of inquiries, the bookings have also improved.
Kothamangalam is located at the eastern end of Ernakulam. Therefore, it is easy to reach here on weekends even from Kochi. The Aluva-Munnar Road also passes through Kothamangalam, also known as the Gateway to the High Range. It is located at a distance of 80 km from Munnar. The Ernakulam-Madurai-Rameshwaram road also passes through this road.
KSRTC has also arranged low-cost overnight accommodation for tourists arriving in Munnar. Passengers can sleep in KSRTC buses for just Rs 100. Also, those who come with friends or family can book the entire bus for just Rs 1,600.
