Have you always wanted to view Anaimalai Hills, South India's largest peak at close quarters? You can get the best view from Nallamudi Viewpoint, which is 15 kilometres away from Valparai (or Poonachimalai), a picturesque hill station in Coimbatore. You can get a panoramic view of the hills and the surrounding tea estates. Enclosed inside Nallamudi Tea estate, from the viewpoint you can watch the hills, the sprawling tea estates, the green valleys, and waterfalls.
You must trek all the way from the tea estate to reach the viewpoint to savour the wild beauty of Valparai, its ponds and Sholayar mountains. In case you find elephants marching towards the pond, slow down and make way. From September to February, the viewpoint will be covered in mist and if you are lucky you can even spot some wild animals en-route. The view from there cannot be described in words, it is like a magnificent painting.
We also recommend a visit to the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, a tropical jungle which is home to exotic endemic wildlife, including 30 elusive tigers, lion-tailed macaques, peacocks, langurs, spotted deer, elephants, and crocodiles. While there you can go for trekking, jungle safaris, bird watching, elephant rides, visit elephant camps and watch them being bathed and fed and shop at the eco shop for spices and souvenirs.
