Subhash Bose Park in the heart of Kochi city is an ideal place to spend a holiday with your kids. With the services of Kochi Metro being extended to Thykoodam, the park and other attractions nearby have become more accessible to visitors.
For a hassle-free trip, take the metro from any station between Aluva and Thykoodam and get down at Maharaja's Ground stop. From there, catch an auto-rickshaw, which would drop you in front of Subhash Park for a fare of Rs 30. Subhash Park is also at a walking distance from Ernakulam Junction (South) railway station.
Subhash Park is a favourite among kids as well as adults as it is virtually a green oasis in the concrete jungle of Kochi city. As the park is located beside the backwaters, visitors can also enjoy the sight of passing ships from around the world entering and leaving Cochin Port. One among the few well-maintained parks under the state government, Subhash Park is suitable for family outings.
Another highlight of the park is the world-class sculptures. Back in 1990, a workshop for sculptors had been organized here and the creations of the renowned sculptors who participated in the event have been recreated and installed at various spots.
After enjoying the beautiful gardens, backwaters and distant view of the sea at Subhash Park, you can also head to the Boat Jetty and Marine Drive nearby. At a cheap ticket fare, government-owned boats would take travellers to historic places such as Fort Kochi and picturesque spots like Munambam.
After all the fun, you can head to the Maharaja's Ground Metro station again for the trip back home.
