Pathiramanal

A 10-acre isle in the middle of Vembanad lake. Home to a variety of birds, including many that have migrated there from different countries. Pathiramanal fills the heart with its beauty, and entry there is free.

Aruvikkuzhi waterfalls

Just two kilometres from Kumarakom is Aruvikkuzhi waterfalls. A quiet place, away from madding crowds. Water falls from a height of 100 feet, offering a delight beyond words.

Kumarakom bird sanctuary

The bird sanctuary at Kumarakom is one of the most famous in India, housing several rare species of birds. The white crane seen otherwise only in Siberia is here. Located on a 5.7 sq km space, the sanctuary is open from 6 am to 6 pm and the entry fee is Rs 5. It's best to reach early in the morning, so that there is enough time to view a large number of birds.

Places of worship

There are several famous places of worship in and around Kumarakom, including the Thalikkotta Shiva temple, Thazhathangadi Juma Masjid, St Mary's church and Vaikom Mahadeva temple. Some of these are centuries-old and display the architectural glory of Kerala.
