Singer Amrutha Suresh and her partner Gopi Sundar are travel addicts who wouldn’t miss a chance to pack their bags and go on interesting trips. The couple recently enjoyed a beautiful winter vacation in Kodaikanal. Amrutha has already uploaded the video vlog of their trip in her social media page. The picturesque destination with its enchanting streams, beautiful waterfalls and the valleys covered in blankets of mist is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing vacation. In the video, you could even spot farmers in an orchard reaping fresh locally grown carrots.
Amrutha and Gopi are seen enjoying a trekking trip into the forest accompanied by a guide. After some time, the group reaches a giant, unexplored waterfall. This is the majestic Chembakapetty waterfall which is not known to many.
The mesmerizing hill station
Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu is touted as one of the most famous honeymoon destinations in India. The incredible weather, mountains covered in mist and the beautiful waterfalls makes it a dream destination to be visited through out the year. The word Kodaikanal means the ‘gift of the woods’. Just as its name, Kodaikanal is famous for its dense forests and amazing foliage.
Situated between the valleys of the Palani hills, Kodaikanal is around 7,200 feet above the sea level. The Kodaikanal lake which is just a kilometre away from the town is a man-made lake in the shape of a star. You could enjoy boating in the lake or take a horse ride on the banks. Besides, you could even hire a cycle and ride around the town to enjoy its sights.
The Green Valley View point, commonly known as the suicide point is inside the dense forest which is always covered in mist. Meanwhile, the Bear Shola waterfalls which is just 2 kilometers away from the lake is an ideal picnic spot. The Dolphin’s Nose view point is a 6000 feet high rocky mountain from where you can enjoy the scintillating panoramic view of the serene valleys and the Kodaikanal town.
Popularly known as the ‘Princess of Hill Stations’, Kodaikanal is the perfect destination for adventure enthusiasts too. There are around 17 trekking paths in Kodaikanal which is situated at 6998 feet height, between the southern ranges of the Palani Hills. The Kodai-Palani trekking route is the most famous one. The trekking begins near the Kukkal Caves and covers the scintillating Shola forests before concluding at the Kuthirayaru dam.
Besides these, Pillar’s Rocks, Thalayar falls which is the highest waterfall in Tamil Nadu, Vattakanal which is known as the favourite spot of Hippies and Israelites, the agricultural village of Mannavanoor, the Guna Caves which is also known as the Devil’s Kitchen and the Coaker’s Walk, the narrow pedestrian path which is around a kilometre long and the Berijam Lake where you could enjoy fishing, safari tours and bird watching are some of the places you could visit in Kodaikanal.
