Ever since the tourism industry reopened, and with the advent of winter, Munnar seems to be a huge favourite for those who are planning for a weekend getaway.
Actor Anusree is getting a much-needed break, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, if her latest Instagram pictures are anything to go by. “Taking a break from the hustle of the city to the calm hills,” says her Instagram post. And the Dream Catcher Plantation at Ratnagiri seems to be the perfect getaway, with a few of her like-minded friends for company.
Charmingly placed amidst acres of tea, cardamom, and orange plantations, this tall resort done in white is hard to miss, standing bright in the middle of so much greenery. A celebrity favourite, the resort is famous for its quaint elaborate Treehouses, equipped with all the modern amenities and are at an altitude up to 20 to 60 ft from the ground.
Their lovely suspension bridge is a major lure, along with a watchtower, campfire, off-road jeep ride, horse riding, made-to-order Barbeque, an infinite swimming pool, kids play area, a well-equipped spa (offering Ayurvedic and other international beauty therapies) and fabulous in-house trekking within the plantation.
If treehouse isn’t your thing, you can try their Tea garden honeymoon cottage (traditional roof with ceiling and terracotta tiling and a panoramic view of the tea estate), interconnected two-bedroom (ideal for large families), Superior rooms with Balcony (twelve rooms with exclusive balconies) and three deluxe rooms. (For online bookings and special packages visit their website dreamcatchermunnar.com)
If you are in the mood for some exploring beyond the token plantation tour, try the Kalari Kshethra (centre of the oldest form of martial arts, Kalaripayattu and Kathakali and their live shows are in the evening), Punarjani Traditional village (performing arts theatre) and Lock Heart Gap (great for picnic and hiking).
Ever since the tourism industry reopened, and with the advent of winter, Munnar seems to be a huge favourite for those who are planning for a weekend getaway. And December to February are their peak tourist season. So what are you waiting for?
