Two years ago, not many people knew about Meesapulimala. Even though many movies like Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi and Chennai Express was shot at various places in the hills around Meesapulimala, it was Dulquer Salmaan movie 'Charlie', which catapulted Meesapulimala into the limelight.
The one line, which translates to 'have you seen the mist rolling in at Meesapulimala' tugged at more heartstrings than all the pictures of the place could do. Young people trudged uphill. And then social media took over. Every other day, there were groups of travelers trekking up the hills, posting alluring pictures, which motivated more people to take the trip. The result was littering. People discarding plastic waste in the pristine surroundings.
And now, Dulquer Salmaan has come out with a message that every traveler should listen to.
During the last one month, people, including women, belonging to travel groups have trekked up Meesapulimala to clean up the litter. Dulquer Salman's message, we hope will reach out to the masses.
