After consecutive defeats, Kerala men secured a thrilling victory over Services in the Senior National Basketball Championship at Bhavnagar in Gujarat on Wednesday. Sejin Mathew top-scored with 18 points, including a powerful dunk, as Kerala won 63-52. Kerala men had lost their earlier group matches to Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.
But the best drama on the day came in a thriller between Indian Railways and Punjab, where Sahaj Pratap Singh Sekhon sealed victory for the Railway men with a buzzer-beater three-pointer.
Amjyot Singh thought he had won the game for Punjab by making it 72-70 with just two seconds left. But Sekhon sunk a three-pointer right on the buzzer to steal the narrowest of wins for the Railways. Joining the Railways in the men's quarterfinals were Tamil Nadu, who defeated Rajasthan 83-60.
