Seasoned Kerala player Arathi Sara Sunil and her partner Varshini V S of Tamil Nadu won the women's doubles title of the CM Trophy International Challenge Badminton Tournament in Raipur on Sunday.
Arathi and Varshini defeated Kavya Gupta and Radhika Sharma 21-18, 21-19 in the final. The duo has had a spectacular season, finishing on the podium in four national-ranking and two international-challenge events since January.
Last week, they won the silver medal at the NMDC-Telangana International Challenge 2024, held at the Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad. In the four national-ranking events this year, Arathi and Varshini won two gold and two silver medals.
The duo trains under Joy T Antony at the RSC-SJ Badminton Academy in Kochi. Joy, a former international, was selected as the coach of a senior national team for the Bendigo Open and Sydney Open held in Australia in October.
