Jerome Vinith was in prime form as Calicut Heroes defeated Bengaluru Torpedoes 3-2 in a thrilling Super 5 game of the Prime Volleyball League in Chennai on Thursday.

The Heroes looked like walking away with the encounter after taking a 2-0 lead but the Torpedoes bounced back to force a decider. The Heroes prevailed 18-16, 16-14, 8-15, 11-15, 15-10.

The Heroes lead the Super 5 stage with six points from two wins and a loss.

Jerome was the star player for the Heroes as he secured 20 points while setter Ukkrapandian lifted his game in the final set. The introduction of Bishnoi Ashok too proved crucial in the decider as he bagged a couple of serve points.

For Torpedoes, Alappuzha native Sethu T R top scored with 15 points, including four from serves.

In an earlier Super 5 game, the Mumbai Meteors edged Ahmedabad Defenders 3-2 (15-8, 13-15, 7-15, 16-14, 15-13). Amit Gulia was named the Player of the Match.
