Kochi: Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya will announce the winners of the Manorama Sports Awards 2022 here on Tuesday.
With a total prize money of Rs 12 lakh, the Malayala Manorama-Santa Monica Study Abroad Sports Awards is the largest monetary sports prize in Kerala.
There are six awards in two categories – the Manorama Sports Star 2022 and the Manorama Sports Club 2022. While the Manorama Sports Star 2022 will identify and honour the achievements of individuals, the Manorama Sports Club 2022 will acknowledge the efforts of clubs and academies that unearth latent talents and build their skills to help them grow into world beaters.
The three final contenders for the Manorama Sports Star 2022 are shuttler Treesa Jolly, cricketer Sanju Samson and triple jumper Eldhose Paul. The three finalists for the Manorama Sports Club Award 2022 are Nattika Sports Academy, Thrissur; St. George Volleyball Club, Vazhakulam, Ernakulam; and SB Football Academy, Poovar, Thiruvananthapuram.
Jayasuriya arrived in Kochi on Monday to attend the ceremony, which will be telecast live by Manorama News from 9 pm.
