England's new manager Thomas Tuchel on Friday announced his first squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers without anyone from Manchester United.

However, Aston Villa forward Marcus Rashford, who is on loan from United, has returned to the England squad for the matches against Albania and Latvia. Ajax's Jordan Henderson has also been included in the 26-member squad.

Rashford had not been part of the England squad since November 2023. But the 27-year-old rediscovered his form since moving on loan in January, registering four assists in nine appearances for Villa. Henderson, 34, last played for England in November 2023.

It is not the first time an English squad is devoid of United players. In October, interim manager Lee Carsley named an England squad without a player from the most successful Premier League club. Kobbie Mainoo's withdrawal due an injury had meant, England went without a player from Manchester United for the first time since 1976.

United have been struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League table, 36 points off Liverpool at the top. Ruben Amorim's United were 14th in the points table after 28 matches and are likely to miss out on European football next season.

A surprise inclusion in Tuchel's squad is Newcastle defender Dan Burn. Arsenal's 18-year-old midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly is another newcomer into the squad and he could win his first cap in the upcoming qualifiers.
