Kochi: "The one thing I can assure you is that steps will be initiated to promote transparency and we'll try to communicate everything that is going on at the club regularly," said Kerala Blasters FC director Nikhil B. Nimmagadda. He was responding to the concerns raised by Manjappada, the official supporters' group of Kerala Blasters, over the club's 'underwhelming' preparations for the 11th edition of the Indian Super League (ISL).
"We are one big family. The fans are also an integral part of this wonderful group. Family members share both joy and sorrow with each other. These shared experiences contribute to the overall well-being and happiness of the family. As fans have every right to express their passion and devotion, they are free to voice their opinions and dissents as well. We completely understand the situation. We will initiate measures to increase communication with fans and encourage opinions and ideas to be shared," he said.
Responding to the social media posts by a section of disgruntled fans targeting sporting director Karolis Skinkys over the club's recruitment policy, Nikhil said, "Karolis joined the club in 2020. Except for the first season, Blasters have performed reasonably well under him. The club was founded in 2014, but we came into the picture only in 2017. We took control of football operations in 2021 and Karolis's appointment was part of our long-term development plans. We have strengthened the squad ahead of ISL Season 11 and we are confident of better results. There is no need to panic as we have made some very good signings. Understandably, the fans were frustrated by the delay in signing new players. Believe me, we have put together a strong team," he added.
The ISL 2024-25 edition is scheduled to start on September 13 and will run until May 4, 2025.
