Kolkata: Chenniayin FC pulled off a stunning 3-2 win over Mohun Bagan Super Giant to keep their playoff hopes alive in the ISL here on Sunday.
Joni Kauko put Bagan ahead in the 29th minute. Jordan Murray drew level for the visitors in the 72nd and Ryan Edwards handed Chennaiyin the lead eight minutes later. However, Dimitrios Petratos equalised for Bagan by converting a debatable penalty in added time. But there was more late drama as Irfan Yadwad struck the winner for Chennaiyin in the seventh minute of added time.
Bagan remain in second spot with 39 points from 19 games. Mumbai City are leading the table with 41 points from 19 matches. Chennaiyin jumped to ninth spot with 21 points from 19 games.
The top-six sides will make it to the playoff. Bagan, Mumbai, Odisha FC, and FC Goa have sealed their place in the playoffs.
The top two teams will directly qualify for the semifinals, while the remaining four will be involved in a single-leg knockout match.
