Kolkata: Former champions Gokulam Kerala FC outplayed Indian Air Force FT 2-0 in their opening match of the Durand Cup at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan here on Wednesday.
Sourav drew first blood for the Malabarians in the 36th minute as the Air Force goalkeeper made a hash of a regulation take.
Gokulam, playing their first match under Spanish head coach Domingo Oramas, had a 68 per cent possession in the opening half.
Striker Sreekuttan doubled the lead in the 67th minute as he curled the ball past the goalkeeper to perfection.
Gokulam top the group with three points.
Indian Super League sides Kerala Blasters and Bengaluru FC are the other teams in Group C.
Gokulam next meet Blasters at the Mohun Bagan Ground on Sunday (2.30 pm).
