Riyadh: A Saudi man has fulfilled his father's last wish to pay a 6,000 riyal (Rs 112,000) arrears to a former Indian employee who had died in his hometown.
Misfar Al Shammari, who runs his late father's business at Al Qita in Ha'il, north-western Saudi Arabia had nothing except the ex-employee's passport copy with him to trace the man. Yet, Shammari managed to find the man's family in India to deliver the cheque.
The youth had been a contract worker in the company for several years. Shammari's father was sad he could not pay the money as the man left for India, but had assured him he will definitely send him the money.
The youth died in accident in India a few days after arriving home. Shammari's father received the sad news as he was bed-ridden. He told his son to make sure that the payment is taken care of.
Shammari approached the Saudi ministry of interior with the passport copy and sought help. The ministry contacted their diplomatic mission in Delhi and provided the passport details. The embassy traced the youth's family.
Shammari visited the family and handed over the cheque. He had taken a video clipping to be shown to his father, but the senior Shammari did not live long enough to see that.
