New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag on Sunday appealed to protesters, who have been rampaging in Haryana demanding reservation for the Jat community, to shun violence.
"The country's defence forces, the sports world and others have made the country proud. We must concentrate and use our energies towards the uplift of Indian society," the Jat cricketer tweeted on a day when the protests continued for the eighth day.
देश की सेना और खेल जगत और ना जाने कितनी चीज़ों में देश का नाम ऊँचा किया है। हमारा जोश देश के भले लिए इस्तेमाल होना चाहिए।

Requesting his fellow community members to abjure from violence and put forth their demands in a constitutional manner, the former India opener wrote: "We are the protectors and not violators." (With agency inputs)
