Kochi: Amid speculations over the post the CPM has promised to offer party veteran VS Achuthanandan, public works minister G. Sudhakaran has said that the nonagenarian leader was not a person who should be let to sit idle.
Speaking at the Manorama News channel's chat show Nere Chovve, Sudhakaran said that the party has the responsibility to chart a task for Achuthanandan to perform.
"I never fall at anyone's feet to get an issue resolved. I touched Achuthanandan's feet just out of respect," G. Sudhakaran said.
Achuthananadan's role in the government became a hot topic as politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan was elevated to the post of CM after the Left Democratic Front swept to power in Kerala. Achuthanandan had reportedly demanded the post of advisor to government in a note written to party general secretary Sitaram Yechury. However, Achuthanandan later denied writing such a note.
