Perumbavoor: UDF convener P.P. Thankachan on Thursday refuted charges levelled against him in connection with the rape and murder of law student Jisha.

"I don't know Jisha's mother. Neither me nor my family has any link with the murder case. The news that Jisha's mother had been working in my house is a lie. She has not worked in my house for a single day," Thankachan said.

What Jomon Puthanpurackal is doing is character assassination, Thankachan said and added that legal measures will be taken against this. He said that the LDF was trying to settle score for loosing the assembly seat in Perumbavoor.

The social media went abuzz with reports that a senior Congress leader was behind the murder of Jisha. Human rights activist Jomon Puthenpurackal had written to Pinarayi Vijayan the other day alleging that a top Congress leader at Perumbavoor was behind the murder and that the police were sabotaging the investigation.

Even as the complaint was posted in Facebook, the matter became a hot topic of discussion in the social media. P.P. Thankachan's explanation comes in this backdrop.
