Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, KaladyKalady: A former student of the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady has accused a group of SFI members of insulting her in an apparent act of moral policing on the campus.
The police have registered a case against four students and 16 yet-to-be identified suspects.
Sara Ansal, who is pursuing higher studies in Bengaluru, has complained that she was heckled by a group of students when she went to her former campus on February 21 to watch an arts festival. She was speaking to a friend on her way back when she was insulted near the Koothambalam.
The SFI, however, termed this as an attempt to frame its members. The student association’s university unit said the complainant was not seen anywhere near the campus during the arts festival.
The only skirmish of the day happened when an outsider abused and tried to harass a group of volunteers who were setting things in order near the second venue after the programs got over. The said outsider, who they claimed was a frequent troublemaker on the campus, was handed over to the police.
Sara Ansal has been summoned by Circle Inspector Saji Markose to collect her statement.
Roji M. John MLA said the incident was the latest example of moral policing by the SFI.
