Popular Malayalam scenarist TA Razzaq passes away

Kochi: Noted writer and scenarist T.A. Razzaq passed away at a private hospital here on Monday. He was 58.

He was undergoing treatment for liver ailment in Kochi for quite some time.

Known for exploring themes of human virtues and relationships, Razzaq had teamed up with several prominent directors in Malayalam film industry, like Sibi Malayil, Kamal, Jayaraj and so on.

He was born at Kondotty in Malappuram district and was active in stage plays since his schooldays. He embarked on film career as an associate director with A.T. Abu in the the film Dhwani. His first script was for the film Ghoshayathra. However, Vishnulokam, directed by Kamal, was his first released film.

He had won state award for best story and screenplay for the film Kanakinavu directed by Sibi Malayail.

Vishnulokam, Naadodi, Aayirathil Oruvan, Uthaman, Bhoomigeetham, Gazal, Karma, Kaanaakkinaavu, Thaalolam, Chithrashalabham, Sneham and Saaphalyam were some of the prominent films for which he had penned the script.

His brother T.A. Shahid, who was also also a script writer, predeceased him in 2013, aged 41.
