Kannur: A 27-year-old madrasa tutor at Iritty in Kannur was arrested by the police for allegedly sexually abusing four minor girls.
Police said that Muhammed Rafi, a native of Tharuvana in Wayanad, has been charged with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The abused children are aged between 8 and 11.
Police nabbed Rafi after the girls' mothers filed a complaint against the tutor. Police took Rafi into custody after recording statements of the victims.
Sources told Manorama News that Rafi confessed to have committed the crime. Police will also investigate whether more children were sexually assaulted by the man. He will be produced before a court Wednesday.

Rafi's arrest is the latest shocker in a series of sexual attacks against minor girls in Kerala by priests and religious preachers.
Fr Robin alias Mathew Vadakkencheril, a Catholic priest who was the vicar of Kottiyoor church, was arrested on February 28 on charges of sexually exploiting and impregnating a 16-year-old girl.
A temple priest was arrested earlier this month on the charge of raping a 70-year-old temple employee.
