Kozhikode: The health condition of CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan, who recently surrendered in connection with the murder of RSS activist Kathiroor Manoj, is satisfactory, according to a medical report.

Jayarajan, who is undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College, was examined by a five-member medical team. The medical report will be submitted to Thalassery Sessions Court. A copy of the report has been handed over to the Kannur jail superintendent.

Jayarajan, listed as an accused in the murder case, surrendered before the court on February 12 after the Kerala High Court rejected his plea for anticipatory bail. Though he was slapped with Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and remanded till March 11, he was admitted to Pariyaram Medical College based on a medical report that prescribed experts' treatment for him.

Jayarajan was later transferred to Kozhikode Medical College based on the rule that an accused in remand should be admitted to government-run hospital.
