Thalassery: An Additional Sessions Court (3) has found nine BJP-RSS workers guilty in the murder case of DYFI worker Rijith Shankaran (25). The court will award the sentence to convicts on January 7.

The convicted are: V V Sudhakaran (56); Jayesh (39); C P Ranjith (42); P P Ajindran (50); I V Anilkumar (51); P P Rajesh; V V Sreekanth (46), his brother V V Sreejith (42); and T V Bhaskaran (66). The third accused, Ajesh, passed away before the trial concluded.

 According to the case, the convicts attacked Rijith and his companions with swords and knives due to political rivalry on October 10, 2005 near the road in front of a well by the temple in Thachankandi. Rijith, along with his friends Nikesh, Vimal, and Vikas, sustained injuries in the attack. Rijith succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
