A 70-year-old man died here at Podiyadi on Saturday after a sand-laden truck collided with the two-wheeler he was riding. The deceased, Surendran, was a native of Chennithala, Mannar. The accident happened around 12.30 pm when the truck was travelling from Thiruvalla to Podiyadi.
The Pulikeezhu police have filed a case against the truck driver, Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Perumthuruthy, under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide. A team led by Thiruvalla DySP Ashad S and fire force personnel arrived at the scene.
Surendran's body was transported to the Thiruvalla Taluk Hospital mortuary and will be handed over to the family following a post-mortem at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
