Speeding truck kills woman after car knocks her down in Kollam

Kollam: In a tragic incident, a speeding truck ran over a woman who had been knocked down by a car on MC Road at Murukkumon, near Nilamel, on Wednesday morning. The deceased is Shilabeevi (51), wife of Isahac Rawuther, a native of Murukkumon. She was crossing the road during her morning walk when the accident occurred.

The accident took place around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday. According to witnesses, a car coming from Thiruvananthapuram knocked down Shilabeevi. Within seconds, a speeding lorry carrying vegetables ran over her, leaving her body in several pieces. The victim's head, torso, and other body parts were reportedly torn apart in the fatal crash.

The car, in which a family was travelling, was on the way to Pathanamthitta from Thiruvananthapuram, while the lorry was en route to Thiruvananthapuram.

Chadayamangalam Police Sub-Inspector Monish told Onmanorama that a case has been registered against the driver of the car for reckless driving that claimed a life. His arrest will be made soon, he said.

Shilabeevi's body was handed over to her relatives after an autopsy at Paripally Government Medical College Hospital.
