Wayanad: A 24-year-old man died, and three others were injured in a car crash in Pathirippalam on early Tuesday. The deceased, Meliyedath Shabeer, a native of Kuttiady, Kozhikode, was on his way to Ooty with his friends when a truck collided with their car.
The truck, transporting machinery for a pipe-well company, lost control and crashed into the car, police said. Shafi, Yunus, and Sahal, who were also in the car, sustained injuries and were taken to a private hospital in Kalpetta.
Shabeer's body would be handed over to his relatives after a postmortem in the afternoon, police added.
The Pathirippalam stretch between Meenangadi and Sulthan Bathery is known to be an accident-prone area, with at least one accident occurring daily, officials said.
