Kollam: Three people were injured after a KSRTC bus rammed into a car at Nilamel on Tuesday afternoon. The bus, en route to Thiruvananthapuram, collided with a car heading to Kollam. An autorickshaw travelling behind the bus also lost control and was involved in the accident.

The incident occurred around 2.30 pm. According to the Chadayamangalam police, the KSRTC bus was on the wrong side of the road at the time of the collision. The Ertiga car, carrying a passenger named Shilpa—a native of Madurappa near Anchal—was returning from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Shilpa sustained a severe head injury and is in critical condition. The car’s driver, Habeeb, suffered a leg fracture, while Prince, the autorickshaw driver, also fractured his leg. The car was completely damaged in the mishap.

The Chadayamangalam police have taken the KSRTC bus driver into custody. Witnesses alleged that reckless driving by the bus driver caused the accident. The police stated that the driver would undergo a medical examination to determine if he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
