Kottayam: After a complaint from a resident of Moonilavu, Kottayam, the tiles in the compound of the Family Health Centre were removed, revealing piles of plastic waste. Johnson Kalathookadavu claims the waste was buried in the compound by Haritha Karma Sena.
He had previously lodged several complaints with the Moonilavu Panchayat authorities, the District Collector, the District Police Chief, and the Pollution Control Board on March 22.
According to sources, around five sacks of plastic waste were buried in the compound of the Family Health Centre. "It was due to my complaint that the tiles were removed from the compound, and the buried waste was dug up," Johnson told Onmanorama. The waste was later transferred to a plastic processing centre in Narimattam.
