Kottayam: A 54-year-old woman died in a car crash early Sunday in Mavilangu, Kottayam. The deceased, Aneesha, a Kattakada native, was on her way to an Ayurveda doctor in Thrissur for diabetes treatment when their car, driven by her son-in-law Naushad, lost control and collided with a parked car on MC Road.
Upon being unconscious, Aneesha was brought to Kottayam General Hospital but could not be saved. Her daughter Sabeena and Naushad's friend Peer Muhammed sustained minor injuries in the accident. Peer is also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The Chingavanam Police have conducted an inquest, and after the postmortem, Aneesha's body will be handed over to her family. Naushad reportedly dozed off while behind the wheel, and a case has been registered against him for careless driving, police said.
