Idukki: Two engineering students lost their lives on Saturday after falling into the Aruvikuthu waterfall in Idukki. The deceased are Aksa Reji (18) of Thalavoor in Kollam and Donal Shaji (22) of Murikkassery in Idukki, both students at the University College of Engineering, Muttom, Thodupuzha. The incident occurred around 7 pm.

The Aruvikuthu waterfall is located less than 3 km from the college. Aksa was pursuing her first year in cybersecurity, while Donal was a third-year computer science student. The fire and rescue team from Thodupuzha arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies.

According to reports, their classmates had been searching for the duo since morning and couldn't reach them on their phones. Residents in the area reported the incident to the police after spotting a mobile phone near the waterfall. Their clothes were also found near the water. The bodies were shifted to Thodupuzha District Hospital. Aruvikuthu waterfalls are known for their rapids.
