The Kerala General Education Department has constituted a six-member committee to investigate the recent leak of Christmas examination question papers, said Minister V Sivankutty on Monday. The panel, headed by Director of General Education Shanavas S, has been tasked with submitting its report within a month.
The members of the committee include Meenambika (Additional Secretary, General Education Department), Shibu (Additional Director and Vigilance Officer, General Education), Gireesh Cholayil (Joint Commissioner, Pareeksha Bhavan), Shajidha (Joint Director, Academics, Higher Secondary Education), and Dhanya (Deputy Director, Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)).
The minister also outlined the current processes for printing and distributing question papers to schools and emphasised that the committee's recommendations would be forwarded to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for prompt implementation.
Addressing the press after a high-level meeting with department officials, Sivankutty revealed that he had also discussed the matter with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who directed authorities to take stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Sivankutty also reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating malpractice and announced actions to restrict teachers from engaging in private tuition.
Sivankutty strongly criticised the YouTube channel MS Solutions for its role in leaking the Class 10 English and Class 11 Mathematics question papers, calling their actions unethical and driven by profit motives. “They violated basic standards of integrity and undermined public trust in the education system,” he said.
Earlier in the day, a Crime Branch investigation led by H Venkatesh was launched into the issue. The Director of General Education has filed complaints with the DGP and the Cyber Cell.
