Kozhikode: Members of the supreme body of Samastha Jamiyyathul Ulama Mushawara on Monday accused Hakeem Faizi Adrussery, general secretary of the Coordination of Islamic Colleges (CIC), of promoting the ideologies of Jamaat-e-Islami, including religious nationalism. "We have evidence suggesting Jamaat-e-Islami is influencing Adrussery," said Mushawara member PM Abdussalam Baqawi, alongside his colleagues Moideen Kutty Faizi, K Hyder Faizi, and Asgar Ali Faizi, during a press conference here.

The Samastha Mushawara members decided to address the media following a comment made by Adrussery that Samastha required "purification”.
In their recent meeting in Kozhikode, the Mushawara decided to sever all ties with the CIC. "Adrussery has consistently defied the Samastha leadership and has shown no intention of changing his approach. When a seven-point formula was developed as part of reconciliation efforts, he mocked it. These efforts began in 2021, but he remained uncooperative. On several issues, including his refusal to allow Wafiyya students to marry while pursuing their courses, he ignored the views of Samastha scholars. When the organisation sought clarification, he was unwilling to provide answers. Eventually, he responded by misinterpreting and mocking the conditions outlined in the formula," Baqawi said. He further said Samastha would reconsider its ties with CIC if Adrussery accepted the seven-point formula.

When questioned about Adrussery's policy of including female students and teachers in the college senate, Baqawi stated, "We don't believe this is necessary. Everything is functioning smoothly in all educational institutions at present. If any change is required, Samastha is open to adapting within the boundaries of its ideology. We are willing to embrace progressive ideas without straying from Samastha's core principles," he said.
