Pulppalli: A construction worker admitted to the Government Medical College, Mananthavadi, on Saturday after an elephant attacked him was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, on Sunday as his condition deteriorated. The incident occurred when Satheesh and a few others were walking from the resort, where they work, along a shortcut through the jungle to the nearby town of Chekkadi. The elephant, which was near the jungle road, attacked unexpectedly. The dense forest prevented the group from spotting the animal in advance. The others in the group managed to flee, but Satheesh fell while trying to escape, according to those who survived the attack. Satheesh had joined the resort a month ago.
IC Balakrishnan, MLA, arrived at the hospital shortly after the incident and arranged Satheesh’s transfer to Kozhikode for better treatment. Satheesh, who broke his ribs in the incident, remains in critical condition, sources said.
